Frequently Asked Questions

Things to know about ERS Heatscreens

How does the ERS Heatscreen differ from other products?

The ERS heatscreen consists of four layers that – altogether – are even thinner than tissue paper. These four layers are fused with a toughened glass pane at several 1000 degrees. The fusion causes infrared heat to be radiated forwards, and into the masonry to the rear of the heating element, without any energy loss. This enables us to confidently guarantee extremely high efficiency, low heating costs and minimal wear and tear. We are particularly proud of the fact that our ERS Heatscreens are produced entirely in Austria.

Why is the heat that radiates from the back of the screen so important?

This heat keeps moisture out of the walls! The radiant heat is constantly warming substance of the walls, keeping them dry so that they provide the best possible insulation. The drier the wall, the lower the operating costs! That’s why ERS Heatscreens are preferably installed on the inner sides of walls around the outside of a building – to ensure long term cost-effective heating and protect your home from damp, mould and unpleasant odours.

How does infrared heat affect people and buildings?

The infrared radiation penetrates several millimetres deep into the skin and warms the individual from the inside. ERS Heatscreen infrared heat has positive effects on buildings, too. A dry wall is warmed by infrared waves and radiates the heat to the room via all surfaces.

What role does moisture play in the walls?

The ERS Heatscreen dries damp walls with infrared radiation and provides the best conditions for a pleasant healthy indoor climate. Existing mould is destroyed and the growth of new mould is counteracted.

What about the heating costs?

Operating costs can be reduced by as much as 60% compared to those generated by conventional electric heating. Long-term savings can be made on heating costs. The running costs of a heating system depend on electricity tariffs and various other factors. Allow us to calculate your exact heating costs in advance!

What’s the best location for the installation of an ERS Heatscreen?

Infrared heating should be mounted on the wall in the lower to middle third of the room, so that as much of the building’s masonry benefits from infrared radiation as possible. No furniture or glass objects should be placed in front of ERS heat screen.

Why are ERS Heatscreens not mounted to the ceiling?

ERS Heatscreens and their patented layer technology were specially designed and built to be mounted on walls. Many people find infra-red radiation that reaches the top of the head from above somewhat unpleasant. This is not an issue with ERS Heatscreens. Heat immediately radiates to the floor, and a comfortable room climate builds up via the walls. It is just as warm under a large dining table as in the rest of the room, and no unused heat accumulates under the ceiling. Enhanced tiled stove technology, but also environmentally-friendly, energy-efficient and economical.

How warm does the floor become?

The radiant heat heats all surfaces in the room evenly. This applies to walls as well as to the floor.

What is the service life of a ERS Heatscreen?

In contrast to most industrial products, many of which are designed to become obsolete at some stage, the ERS Heatscreen is a generational product. The ideal combination of components means wear and tear on individual parts are reduced to a bare minimum.

There is an 8-year guarantee on every ERS Heatscreen.

Where is the ERS Heatscreen manufactured?

100 % made in Österreich

Almost all the raw materials needed to produce Austria’s most modern infrared heating are sourced in the region. ERS Heatscreens are 100% plastic-free, 100% free of harmful substances, 100% developed and produced in Austria. At the company building in Golling near Salzburg we power them with solar energy gleaned from our very own photovoltaic system.

A quality regional product

Ideal for renovations. Damp spots or mould can often be found in old buildings. ERS heat screens heat to the front and the rear, drying out damp walls and preventing mould. These space-saving elements do not require wall channel chiselling or cutting, and can be installed quickly and easily without producing dust or dirt.

Perfect for new buildings. The cost of investment is low because no excavation or floor preparations are required. Space is saved because there is no need for pumps, pipes and boiler rooms. All that’s needed is a standard mains power socket for economical low-cost and maintenance-free operation.
